Absent user mode allows the computer to enter a low power state and continue to perform activities such as recording television shows or streaming music.

In Windows, search for and open the Control Panel.

Find the power supply and click Power Options.

Turn on the power option in Windows

Click Change Combination Settings next to Power Plan.

Click Change Advanced Power Settings.

Click the plus sign next to Media Settings, click the plus sign next to Shared Media Content, and then click Options to open the menu to select Allow Computer Access Suspended Status.

Enable user mode when media files are not shared

Click Apply, OK, and then click Save Changes.

Repeat these steps for other common energy-saving combinations.
