Anyone considering buying a new laptop or as a gift should remember that while speed and design are important, many people care about battery life. After all, nothing is worse than shutting down laptops during large conferences, writing an important email or streaming the latest carnival Netflix series.The good news is that it's now easy to find laptops and 2-in-1 hybrids with a battery life of 10 hours or more. This is due to improvements in the Intel Core i-series CPUs, as well as power and thermal management improvements in Windows 10 and MacOS.Based on a large number of battery tests conducted at CNET Labs, these are the 25 PCs with the longest battery life score from the fall of 2016 to the current year. This list includes Windows and MacOS laptops, Windows 2-in-1 hybrids, and Chromebooks running Google Chrome OS. Does not include Android or iOS tablets.New additions to this latest update include the Lenovo Yoga 920, which can be upgraded to Intel's latest eighth-generation CPU, and the latest MacBook Air, which received a small CPU update in early 2017. Please note that Microsoft's recent Surface Book 2 has two separate batteries, one on the tablet and the other on the keyboard base. We ran them together for up to 17 hours, but we have inconsistent battery performance on the system, and we are conducting further testing before considering inclusion in this list.
