When the computer is not active for a period of time, hibernate mode shuts down the computer, but all open applications are retained for quick start when you return to your computer. Sleep mode uses less power than suspend mode. This mode is recommended if you plan to stay away from your computer for a long time. Adds sleep mode to the power menu and automatically sets the computer to sleep mode after a period of inactivity.

In Windows, search for and open the Control Panel.

Find the power supply and click Power Options.
